395 CONCOURSE MINUTES FOR THE NOVEMBER 18, 2006 MEETING

ROLL CALL – President Mike Byrd called the meeting to order at 1010 hours.  Club delegates were present from AVC, CNA, FWY,  HVC, JVIC, RIC, SBV, VIP, WEF, WFI and Y2K.  The only club absent was EAV.  A quorum was present as a majority of the active clubs and their delegates were represented.

Sam McClary has put together a history of the 395 Concourse at Rollie Jacobs’ request.  The original idea was Bill Migliaccio’s in July of 1989.  The founders tried to get the Federation (who flew the 99 course along with most Inland Empire clubs) to try the 395 course on several occasions but were repeatedly rebuffed.  The first two clubs were RIC (Riverside) and ELS (Elsinore) and it grew from there. The first YB season saw an average of 25 lofts and 350 birds compete along with the San Diego Combine, starting at Adelanto and ending at Benton. At various times clubs in Orange, Los Angeles and San Diego Counties have been members of the Concourse.

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGS – The minutes for the August meeting were read and approved.

PROPOSALS FOR MEMBERSHIP – None

FINANCIAL REPORT – Treasurer Larry Landweer gave his semi-annual financial report (Fall Series 2006). Ending cash balance in the check book is $24,862.57 with no known bills outstanding.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES/COMMUNICATIONS – Dan Jenkins provided a full report on costs and specs for a new 4,000 bird trailer with removable shipping crates.  With two sets of crates the total cost will exceed $60,000.  Half the price is for the crates alone. Features include four thermostatically controlled roof fans, interior lighting, a center aisle, single release or double release systems (trainers etc), torsion axles with electric brakes, water system etc. etc.

Rollie gave a recap of the last two seasons – with particular emphasis on YB losses.

Eddy Shultz died four weeks ago and his memorial is today as well as his auction of birds at 2:00 at Martha Delgado’s.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None

NEW BUSINESS –  Nick Robertis made a motion, seconded by Ron Reed, to have a 30 bird limit on shipping.  The motion was tabled until the December meeting to let all members have an input.  Nick also made a motion, seconded by Ron Reed, to raise shipping to $1/bird to pay for the new trailer.  The motion passed.

Rollie made a motion, seconded by George Way, to make Sam McClary, Larry Landweer, Paul Jones, Benji Bettancourt, Bill Migliaccio and Doug Gallacher Honorary Life Members.  The motion passed.  The foregoing member’s names will appear at the top of the annual Concourse roster, whether deceased or not, and have their dues paid for life.

Larry brought up race releases and stated that Y2K was willing to send a representative with Ted to observe and assist with pickup and releases and urged other clubs to consider sending someone to subsequent races.  It was noted that simple things like failure to turn over water troughs after releases was hampering cleanliness of the trailer and equipment.  Discussion ensued and it was decided that Rollie would put together a written check list for the driver to follow.

For the December meeting delegates should bring their choices for 2007 officers and also race schedules.

The meeting adjourned at 11:20AM.

NEXT MEETING – Will be at Taco Joes, across from the old Coco’s meeting spot at 1749 So Riverside Ave, Rialto at 10 AM on the third Saturday in December.  We can order breakfast there.  Thanks Sam for your hospitality in November.

Respectfully submitted by Larry Landweer, Secretary/Treasurer
